Job applications, letters and interviews

There are lots of things you can do to make your job application and interview successful - information and practical advice has been put together to help you prepare.

Applying for a job

When you have found a job you want to apply for, the next step is to make your application. Many other people may also be applying for the same job so it's important that you make a good impression. When you apply for a job it is likely that you will be asked to fill in an application form or send a curriculum vitae (CV) with a covering letter. You might also be able to apply for a job online using an electronic application form, which is a good way to show your IT skills.

Help with interviews

If you are invited to an interview it means you have passed the first hurdle. It is important to prepare yourself for the interview to make sure you make the most of the opportunity. It may be useful to plan your journey to make sure you get to the interview on time. The vast majority of job interviews are perfectly straightforward - you attend the interview and everything goes well, but there are a few simple common sense rules that you should always remember for your own safety.
