Benefits adviser

The benefits adviser is an online questionnaire to help you find out which benefits and tax credits you and your family may be entitled to, and if you are entitled to the State Pension.

If you are already on benefits

You can check that you are receiving all the benefits you may be entitled to.

How to use the benefits adviser

You can:

  • answer for yourself or someone else - the benefits adviser is anonymous
  • save your answers for seven days (you’ll be given a unique reference number to come back to your answers - you must keep this number safe as there is no way to retrieve it)
  • download and print your results for reference

Important:

If you leave the benefits adviser for 20 minutes or more you’ll get a ‘timed out’ message and you’ll have to start the benefits adviser again.

Before you start

You may find it useful to have the following information before you start (especially if you are answering on behalf of someone else):

  • savings
  • earnings
  • benefit and pension letters from the government
